This is a good example of why you need to learn about Wifi, connecting to wireless networks, and not just assuming you are safe. It’s amazing how easily your credit card number can be stolen in a public Wifi hotspot.

Personally, when i am at a coffee shop or hotel, I make it a point NOT to do anything online I wouldn’t want someone knowing about. This includes email (unless encrypted) and any credit card transactions.

Not only can you be scammed as in the above video, but all the little packets of information you are sending from your computer are wafting through the air, along with the coffee bean aroma, there for anyone with the knowhow to sniff out and record.

Oh, and where do the hottie hackers like the woman in this video hide out anyway???

It demonstrates some of the more prominent (and alarming!) security flaws of a popular voting machine offered by Diebold. Results of the study can be found at: http://itpolicy.princeton.edu/voting/index.html

This is pretty cool. I enjoy glimpses backwards into the past like this. It puts into perspective the ‘visionary’ foresight that people like Jobs and Gates had, and makes it quite a remarkable circumstance to reflect on.

In case you haven’t heard, a lack of action by our lovely leaders in The House and The Senate threatens to ruin the Internet as we know it. Money-grubbing corporations are trying to extort money out of you and the web sites you visit by creating a tiered internet that will charge more for the level of access you are used to getting. Please write your representative and your senator to let them know how important it is to keep the internet out of greedy corporate hands.
